Our Vision

" Through our burial and cremation activities, and the provision of historical, educational and visitor programmes at Glasnevin, Ireland’s National Cemetery, we work to preserve the heritage of past generations, serve the needs of the present generation, and provide a legacy for future generations."

    About Dublin Cemeteries Trust

We are a charitable organisation established in 1828, and are Ireland's leading and most experienced community of Cemeteries and Crematoria. The Trust oversees the work of almost 100 staff across five locations, in the delivery of two core services: Funeral Services and Heritage & Education Services.

    Mission Statement

In line with The Dublin Cemeteries Committee Act 1970, our mission and purpose for the public good is:

    • to bury and cremate people of all religions and no religion with dignity and respect.
    • to ensure the financial sustainability of the Trust, enabling us to develop and maintain our cemeteries, and all buildings, monuments and structures therein
    • to engage in other initiatives which the Committee considers are conducive to the attainment of the objects in the 1970 Act, including the advancement of public knowledge and appreciation of the cemeteries and the history of those buried within through interpretation, exhibitions and preservation.

    Funeral Services

We are the largest provider of funeral services in Ireland, overseeing thousands of burials and cremations annually across our five cemeteries and three crematoria in Dardistown, Glasnevin, Goldenbridge, Newlands Cross and Palmerstown. Our exceptional team guide people through their personal experience of death and bereavement; and we support them in the final journey of their loved ones.

    Heritage and Education Services

At Experience Glasnevin - Ireland's National Cemetery we invite local, national and international visitors of all ages and identities to explore and connect with our special past - through the stories of those buried here. The cemetery has been beautifully restored and sympathetically designed, including state-of-the-art exhibition and education facilities, a visitor centre and interactive tours.

We conserve and preserve the monuments and records which document our social and cultural history, and the Burial Records and Genealogy service continues to forge vital partnerships and connect with academic, heritage and genealogy interests; This unique academic and national resource contains the burial records of almost 1.5 million people, helping people today to experience meaningful and personal journeys of discovery.
