Covid-19 Important Information

Dublin Cemeteries Trust recognise that burials and cremations constitute a critical service to the public. It is vital therefore that these activities continue during the Covid-19 pandemic at each of our locations: Glasnevin, Newlands Cross, Palmerstown, Dardistown and Goldenbridge.

Furthermore, we hold close to 200 years of tradition in this area, and through other epidemics, pandemics and times of difficultly, we have held an enduring commitment to uphold the dignity of the deceased and their families at times of burial.

Equally, we must ensure that we protect our staff and we must also play our part in protecting the general public in delaying the spread of Covid-19. The impact this has had on our services is detailed below. We can assure the public and loved ones of those who are resting with us that once it is safe to do so, we will once again return to normal opening times.

We thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

The pandemic is an unprecedented and evolving situation and we will update our website with other operational changes as they arise. We recognise that some of these changes will impact on the experience of the funeral services that families would have otherwise wanted. However, we trust that the public will understand that these changes are Government-mandated so that Dublin Cemeteries Trust can both protect our staff and support the national effort to delay the spread of Covid-19. Please ensure that all those attending funerals - the family of the deceased, the Priest/Civil Celebrant and Funeral Directors adhere to these guidelines. Thank you sincerely for your co-operation at this difficult time for all of us

    1. Following Government Guidelines effective 22/10/2021 regarding number of people that can attend funeral services, cremation services can now proceed with the maximum seated capacity of the cremation service area.
    2. There is no capacity limit on those attending burial services.
    3. For funeral services with a large number of attendees, those now attending will not be permitted to stand in the aisles or doorways and hand-shaking and the use of condolence books/sharing of Booklets etc. should be avoided.
    4. Web Streaming services are now available in all our Crematoria. Please note that advance notification is required. See below for more details.
    5. Facemasks must be worn at all cremation services.
    6. Families can carry the coffin to the grave side and into the crematorium service area.
    7. We offer extended services @ 10.40am and 2.00pm and all other times have normal services times; please adhere to this as other funeral services will be delayed if your service does not arrive and finish at its designated time.
    8. Please notify us in ADVANCE (one day before) of music requirements; ideally by sending Spotify links for chosen music. Music CD’s/USB’s/Mobile phones etc. will not be accepted on the day of the service.
    9. Advance notification is needed of Covid-19 related deaths, or those that you are treating as suspected Covid-19 deaths.
    10. 11. Funeral Directors and family can collect ashes from our offices by appointment ONLY.
Live streaming of the funeral service is now possible in Dardistown, Glasnevin and Newlands Cross Crematoria.

For more information, live streaming links and service times please select the relevant location within this website.
We continue to welcome people to all five of our locations who wish to visit a grave and pay respect to a loved one. Strict social distancing protocols must be observed, and we would ask people not to enter the cemetery unless they are visiting a specific grave. Some onsite services and facilities are closed. Please refer to each location section in this website for pedestrian and vehicle access and grave visitation hours.
Our Heritage & Education services at Glasnevin Cemetery have reopened. For the coming months we will be operating a Winter schedule and will be open Wednesday – Sunday inclusive (closed Monday and Tuesday).
